Our Story

From the parking lot to Pennsylvania Avenue

Picture this. It’s August 1993. We’re in the parking lot of RFK Stadium and an epic BBQ battle is going down. Chicken, brisket, burgers, ribs, you name it. It was a symphony of flavors, all smokin’ hot and delicious. But we were cooking up more than just sizzlin’ barbeque that day. It was all about the joy of sharing food, gathering with friends and family, summer vibes, feeling the music and, most of all, building a community.

Since that day our original vision has lived on in the nation’s capital. After 32 years, the BBQ Battle, in partnership with Giant Food and so many other incredible partners, has become America’s food and music festival. As foodies, families and friends walk up and down Pennsylvania Avenue eating, drinking, dancing and watching awe-inspiring entertainment, we bring our community together while raising millions for local non-profits.
