Washington, DC (Dec. 26, 2018) – As we say farewell to 2018, don’t forget to mark your 2019 calendars for the official start of summer, the 27th Annual Giant BBQ Battle, coming to Washington, D.C. on June 22nd and 23rd. Tens of thousands of BBQ enthusiasts will fill historic Pennsylvania Ave. to enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of summer.
Attendees will get their fill of all kinds of BBQ and summer treats ranging from Carolina pulled pork to Memphis ribs and Texas brisket to beer can chicken – it’s all at the Giant BBQ Battle. Meet celebrity chefs and national cookbook authors as they share their tips and tricks during cooking demonstrations on what it takes to make great BBQ. Delicious BBQ ribs, chicken, brisket and more will be available for sale from some of the best BBQ restaurants in DC and throughout the country. There will also be plenty of free BBQ and grilled food samples available throughout the event site. To wash down all the amazing food, there’s the Giant Corks to Caps Wine and Microbrew Tent along with a wide variety of popular non-alcoholic cold drinks.
The event offers something for everyone with unique interactive exhibits and family activities such as the Giant Chill Zone, Oscar Mayer Wiener Mobile, Monumental Sports Area featuring the Capitals, Mystics, Valor, Wizards and so much more. Attendees will also be able to enjoy an eclectic mix of rock reggae, jazz, blues, R&B and Go-Go music available on the Monster Energy Stage, Pepsi-Lay’s Sound Stage, and the Famous Dave’s Music Stage.
The Giant BBQ Battle has received numerous awards and accolades over the years including being named a “Top 10 BBQ Festival” and a “Can’t Miss Summer Festival”. In addition, the event helped to support DC Area Charities including USO Metro, which the event has raised millions of dollars for, and the Capital Area Foodbank, by providing tons of food donations every year.
